Sacramento County Jury Convicts Man of 15-Year-Old Girl for Sex Trafficking


A Sacramento County jury on Friday convicted a 35-year-old man on three counts of trafficking a 15-year-old girl, according to a prosecutor’s press release.

Justin Starks was convicted of coaxing a minor into commercial sex acts, pimping a minor under 16 and encouraging a minor under 16, according to the release.

Starks faces up to 12 years in prison, with a January 13 sentence, according to the release. He must register as a sex offender for the rest of his life.

He took the victim to an area known for prostitution to sell sex over the course of several weeks. She collected and gave money to Starks, according to the release.

Investigators spoke to the victim’s family and looked at other evidence to identify Starks as her trafficker, the release said.

The release doesn’t say where Starks comes from. He had a security guard in Carmichael expiring in 2015, according to a Department of Consumer Affairs registry.

He is not eligible for bail and is being held at the Rio Cosumnes Correctional Center, according to the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office inmates’ location.
