Residents, Kinsmen Of Assassinated Labour Party Senatorial Candidate Protest In Enugu, Demand Justice 

Kinsmen and concerned indigenes of Enugu State, under the platform of Citizens Against Violence, on Saturday staged a peaceful protest against the brutal murder of the former chairman of Nigeria Bar Association for Oji-River branch and senatorial candidate of Labour Party for Enugu East senatorial zone, Chief Oyibo Chukwu.

The group which marched round Enugu State metropolis with placards demanded justice for the deceased calling on the security and intelligence agencies to ensure that those behind the gruesome killing did not get off scot-free.

The protesters clad in black and black attires, were led by a kinsman of the slain Labour party Chieftain, who hailed from Amuri Ancient kingdom, in Nkanu West Council area of Enugu state.

Leader of the group, and immediate past Enugu State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Dr Ben Nwoye, said “We are calling for an end to political killings in Enugu State.” 
The APC chieftain said his community, Amurri, had lost a rare gem in Chukwu, noting that Chukwu had contributed meaningfully to the development of the area.

He called for investigation into his murder and asked that the perpetrators be brought to book, while asking the police to stop attributing the assassination to IPOB and ESN in other to bury the matter. 

Eastern Security Network is an armed militias of the pro-Biafra group, Indigenous People of Biafra, whose Leader, Nnamdi Kanu is still in detention since June 2021 after his extraordinary rendition from Kenya.
