An SUV without two tires was stopped along Interstate 75 in Florida, and the driver says paranormal activity was behind the disappearance, the Marion County Sheriff’s Office reports.
It happened, he said, because someone cursed him, according to an Oct. 28 press release.
The traffic stop occurred around 4 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 23 on an Interstate 75 driveway near Marion Oaks, the sheriff’s office said. Marion Oaks is located about 65 miles northwest of Orlando.
“Deputy Wilson… noted that not only were the tires flat, but he was riding on what was left of the rim,” the sheriff’s office said.
“When the deputy asked about the damage to the vehicle, (the driver) stated that someone had cursed him and that he hit a curb a little hard.”
The driver, who lives in Tampa, said the accident led to a choice to do or die: drive home without tires or set the SUV on fire and sleep on the median strip, according to bodycam video.
“Someone cursed me,” says the driver. “That’s paranormal activity.”
Suspecting a different type of ghosts were involved, deputies asked the 29-year-old driver to submit to sobriety tests.
He agreed, but became increasingly excited, spitting on officers, threatening to attack them, kicking them and trying to holster a deputy’s taser, the sheriff’s office said.
“If you mess with me now, let me tell you something, I’m going to break your head with a baseball bat,” the driver is heard to say to a deputy sheriff. “I’m going to… skin you alive.”
Deputies arrested the driver and charged him with: “Two counts of battery on a law enforcement officer; resist an officer by force; attempt to deprive an officer of any means of protection or communication; corrupt by threats against civil servants and drunk driving.”
“He now faces up to 25.5 years in prison and is being held on $27,000 bail,” the sheriff’s office said.
