“Outrageous Sexual Abuse”: Lesbian Couple Charged With Murdering 5 Year Old Son

Magdalena Espósito Valenti and her partner Abigail Páez have been found guilty of “aggravated homicide” to varying degrees in the killing of five-year-old Lucio Dupuy. As a result, they have been sentenced to life imprisonment. Magdalena Espósito Valenti is the mother of Lucio Dupuy.

Both Valenti and Páez received the maximum sentence from Judges in Argentina.

Earlier this month, the court found Valenti guilty of three counts of aggravated homicide, which were qualified by her role as a mother and caregiver, cruelty, and premeditation. However, she was acquitted of sexual abuse.

On the other hand, Páez was convicted of two counts of aggravated homicide, which were qualified by premeditation and malice aforethought, as well as the crime of sexually abusing a minor in an extremely egregious manner (penetration of the anus with an object).

This was further aggravated by Páez’s role as a legal guardian of a minor under the age of 18 and by taking advantage of the pre-existing situation of cohabitation to commit an ongoing offense.

Judges wrote after psychiatric examination that Páez “has clear notions of right and wrong, just and unjust, lawful and unlawful, knows that the alleged act constitutes a crime and knows the responsibilities that would correspond to her, that is, she understands the criminality of her acts and can direct her actions.”

Trial prosecutor Verónica Ferrero reaffirmed that both would be jailed for the rest of their life: “It is a life sentence, they have no possibility of release; they cannot ask for parole after any term has passed,” she said.

Although the court handed down the maximum sentence for the crimes committed against five-year-old Lucio, the defense team representing some of his family members expressed dissatisfaction with the ruling. They were disappointed that the court did not find the child’s mother guilty of sexual abuse.

Ramón Dupuy, Lucio’s grandmother, had requested during the trial that gender-based hate be considered an aggravating factor in the homicide charge. Lucio was killed for being a boy,” he claimed. “There is evidence that Lucito was killed for being male.”
