Lessons in Chemistry Trailer Stars Brie Larson as a Scientist Who Launches a 1950s Cooking Show

Apple TV+ has dropped the official trailer for the new series Lessons in Chemistry. The series stars Brie Larson (Captain Marvel) as a brilliant scientist in the early 1950s who reluctantly takes a job as a TV cooking show host, all the while refusing to give up on her dream of working in a lab. You can get a sneak peek at the series by watching the new trailer below ahead of its debut on Apple TV+ this fall.
In the series, per THR, Larson portrays Elizabeth Zott, a woman who is “forced to put her dream of being a scientist on hold amid dealing with a patriarchal society and the norms that women are meant to be housewives. After Elizabeth is fired from her lab, she accepts a job as a host on a TV cooking show. But rather than showcase recipes, Elizabeth aims to show a nation of overlooked housewives — and the men tuning in — that the status quo can be changed as she craves to return to the lab.”
The film is based on the novel by Bonnie Garmus. Along with Larson, the film stars Lewis Pullman (Top Gun: Maverick), Aja Naomi King (Emily Owens, M.D.), Stephanie Koenig (The Flight Attendant), Kevin Sussman (The Big Bang Theory), Patrick Walker, and Thomas Mann (Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters).
Lee Eisenberg serves as series showrunner. Larson executive produces alongside Oscar nominee Susannah Grant, as well as Jason Bateman and Michael Costigan for Aggregate Films. Natalie Sandy also exec produces for Piece of Work Entertainment.
Brie Larson Cooks Up Something New with Lessons in Chemistry
The series will arrive just ahead of Larson’s return to the big screen. She will also be one of the stars of the Marvel Cinematic Universe movie The Marvels, which serves as a sequel to her previous film Captain Marvel. The movie also stars Teyonah Parris and Iman Vellani, as well as Samuel L. Jackson, Zawe Ashton, and Park Seo-joon. It’s set to hit movie theaters on Nov. 10, 2023.
Larson will also be appearing in another major release before then. She will soon be seen making her debut in the Fast & Furious franchise with a role in the sequel Fast X. This came after Larson publicly lobbied to get involved with the film as she’s a big fan of the franchise. That movie will be released on May 19, 2023.
Lessons in Chemistry will premiere on Apple TV+ this fall on a date yet to be announced.
