Kogi APC guber: Ododo’s candidacy deserved

The All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship primary to elect the candidate to fly the party’s flag at the November gubernatorial elections has come and gone. The keenly contested primary resulted in the delegates to unanimously elect Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo.

Kogi state being the political fortress of APC will surely produce Dodo as the successor to Governor Yahaya Bello. Dodo will ride on the outstanding performance of Yahaya Bello to secure victory at the poll.

Out of several aspirants, Dodo has proven to be the best candidate for the next governor of Kogi state. This was shown by his resounding victory in the just-concluded party primary. Before now, he served meritoriously as the auditor-general for the local government in the state in the Bello administration.

He is a tested administrator that understands the complexity of governing a heterogenic environment like Kogi state. With his wealth of financial experience as auditor, the state will experience efficiency in resource management that will include significant improvement in internal revenue generation.

His versatile knowledge and understanding of local government finance will be added advantage to drive development at the third tier in fixing infrastructure and human capital. The lingering challenges and complaints of teachers of local government schools will most likely form a priority of the administration’s agenda.

He is admirable and endearing not only to the delegates but the entire Kogites, his humility, and empowerments of the less privileged as well as immeasurable wisdom were his notable assets to the delegates. In specific, Dodo prides himself to the people in several ways.

For instance, he offers scholarship to indigent students up to tertiary institutions; he provides intervention health programme to the people, an example is the building of a modern hospital for the people of Upogoro community in Okene local government area; he provides agricultural support facilities to farmers to boost farm productivity; and in addition gives food and financial gift as palliatives to youths and the aged to alleviate hardship, among others.

Above all, the APC candidate is known for building bridges across ethno-religious lines by promoting peaceful coexistence, irrespective of tribe, religion and citizenship; for example, he sponsors both Christians and Muslims annually to perform holy pilgrimage at Mecca and Jerusalem. Indeed, he is a jolly fellow and the man for the job.

The good people of Ogori/Magongo LGA identify with him and congratulate him for clinching the APC governorship ticket; and wish him a smooth sail to Lugard House come November 2023 to continue the legacy of GYB for greater heights for Kogi state.

Kogites are encouraged to come out en-masse on November 11, 2023 and vote Dodo as the next governor of the state.

Long live Kogi state!

Hon. Joshua Gbodi Olugboke,

former Councillor,

Oshobane WardOgori/Magongo local government area, Kogi state
