Jonathan Majors' Attorney Denies Abuse Allegations, Promises Actor Will Be 'Fully Exonerated'
Embattled actor Jonathan Majors has offered a response to recent abuse allegations against him. Back in late March, Majors was arrested on charges of assault and harassment in relation to an alleged incident that occurred with the Creed III star and a woman in the back of a taxi. Previously, the actor’s attorney, Priya Chaudhry, stated that a text message exchange and other forms of evidence would undeniably prove Majors’ innocence in court.
On Wednesday, it was reported that additional accusers have come forward with allegations of abuse and are “cooperating” with the Manhattan district attorney’s office. That could potentially mean that more charges will be filed against Majors. In a new statement from Chaudhry, per CNN, these new allegations are also refuted. The attorney also expresses her confidence in completely clearing Majors’ name once all of the evidence is brought to light.
“Jonathan Majors is innocent and has not abused anyone,” Chaudhry says. “We have provided irrefutable evidence to the district attorney that the charges are false. We are confident that he will be fully exonerated.”
Jonathan Majors’ Troubles Continue
Majors was arrested in March after police responded to an alleged confrontation between the Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania actor and an unnamed woman. The complaint states that Majors struck the woman before placing his hand on her neck at one point, causing minor injuries that were treated at a local hospital. Per Chaudhry, Majors totally denies assaulting the person in any way.
“Around 11 a.m. on March 25, 2023, Jonathan Majors called 911 out of concern for the woman’s mental health,” Chaudhry said of that incident. “The police arrived with the paramedics, as is standard procedure, and arrested Mr. Majors due to an NYPD protocol requiring arrest in certain circumstances.”
Text messages said to be between Majors and the other person have surfaced online, and Chaudhry says they hint toward his innocence. The person texting says that the police does “not have my blessing on any charges being placed.”
“I also said to tell the judge to know that the origin of the call was to do with me collapsing and passing out and your worry as my partner due to our communication prior,” another message reads.
The situation has resulted in Majors getting booted from various projects. Majors was reportedly fired from the Protagonist Pictures film The Man in My Basement and will now no longer be considered for a planned Otis Redding biopic. He was also pulled from ad campaigns for the U.S. Army and the Texas Rangers MLB team. As of now, he’s still attached to upcoming Marvel projects to reprise his Loki and Ant-Man 3 role, but that could still potentially change depending upon what happens next with the actor’s current situation.
