Infrasense conducted a Grade B Underground Utilities Engineering (EUS) study to map the location and depth of underground utilities along a 2-mile stretch of Highway 16 in Mendon, MA . Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) and Electromagnetic Induction (EMI) were the primary tools used in the investigation. Fieldwork also included establishing stations, confirming manhole connectivity, and GPS location of marked utilities in the field.
After field investigations, data is transferred to Infrasense headquarters in Woburn, Massachusetts for review, analysis, and quality assurance (QA) reporting. Each GPR file was reviewed and “selected” to delineate the observed underground utility lines. These areas were then compared to existing as-built records and EMI results. The results are delivered in a comprehensive report with descriptions of the data collection procedures, equipment, analysis methods and results obtained. The final CAD map helped refine previously understood locations of various gas and water pipes, as well as identify a previously unknown line of communication.
