Ojogo urges aspirants to support Aiyedatiwa
A GUBERNATORIAL aspirant of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State, Olusola Oke, has said that the last governorship primary of the party was a nullity, saying that the National Chairman of the party, Abdullahi Ganduje, was restrained by a court of law.
Oke said that Ganduje was prohibited from executing the duties of the APC national chairman during the period crucial to the conduct of the primary election.
In a petition he filed before the appeal panel through his lawyers, Oke said the primary election was a nullity having been organised, superintended, and supervised by Ganduje against a valid, binding, and subsisting order of Kano State High Court.
MEANWHILE, amid the controversies trailing the outcome of the primaries, a member of the House of Representatives representing Ilaje/Ese-Odo Federal Constituency, Donald Ojogo, has urged members of the party to focus on the November gubernatorial election.
According to Ojogo, instead of dwelling in the past and displaying actions capable of affecting the chances of APC in retaining the state, members of the party must be united towards ensuring victory at the forthcoming governorship polls.
In a statement, Ojogo appealed to Aiyedatiwa to call his supporters, who have been engaging in diatribes against some of the aspirants and leaders of the party to order, stressing that chants of reconciliation should be pushed.
He said the primary election was not conducted as prescribed by law and the APC’sconstitution and nomination guidelines,
Oke said there was the absence of a validated membership register as well as a failure to deploy electoral personnel to the venues prescribed for each ward and each local council.
He raised concerns about the alleged lack of a legitimate election process, with results purportedly generated and allocated by returning officers housed in a hotel in Akure.
He contended that the declared results did not stem from any genuine electoral exercise.
Oke, therefore, urged the electoral committee to nullify the APC primary election in Ondo State conducted between April 20 and 22, 2024 due to its flawed nature, in defiance of a court order, as well as failing to comply with relevant legal provisions, the APC’sconstitution and guidelines.
He, however, called for a fresh primary election to be conducted in accordance with the appropriate laws and guidelines, emphasising that no valid outcome can arise from an invalid primary election.
