Darren McMullen has landed a new TV role after starring in Ten’s bleak reality dating show, The Real Love Boat.

The TV host, 40, will appear on Channel Ten’s drama series Heat along with Olympia Valance, Jane Allsop and Pia Miranda.

According to The Sunday Telegraph, the new show will begin shooting this month in Melbourne and regional Victoria.

It will be based on the Australian bushfires and follows a family going on a summer vacation to a remote house.

Eastenders star Danny Dyer will also join the cast of the new series.

The script was written by Neighbors’ executive producer, Jason Heribson, and will be directed by Kate Kendall.

It comes after Darren Ten’s dating show hosted The Real Love Boat, where viewers jumped overboard as it was soon dubbed the “bogan titanic.”

It premiered in October to just 215,000 subway viewers. The ratings were even worse when they dropped to just 141,000 viewers.

The Real Love Boat is based on the classic 1970s drama, The Love Boat.

It marked the return of Below Deck Mediterranean star Hannah Ferrier to reality television as the show’s cruise director.

It also starred former Studio Ten reporter Daniel “Doods” Doody as the head of entertainment.

The US version of the show also failed to gain a captive audience.
